Welcome to 2H - Mr Hemmerman's Class

Introduction

Hi everyone! It’s very exciting to be back at school again and we can’t wait to get stuck in to the autumn term! We need everyone to be in, on time and not missing out on all the exciting things that we have planned!

We still need to keep Covid restrictions in mind and we must follow the guidelines from the government.

PE and outdoor learning

P.E. ALL children MUST come to school in their kit (white T-Shirt and black shorts/leggings or joggers.) Children with long hair are expected to have it tied back and NO jewellery to be worn.

Our PE slot will take place on both a Wednesday and a Thursday. These slots will only be one hour each so children are getting the 2 hours they are entitled to.

Forest School/Outdoor learning – This will begin on Wednesday mornings. Please make sure your child has a change of shoes/welly boots and trousers in school for any outdoor learning we partake in. We are out in all weathers except high winds and thunderstorms.

Reading

Please remember the value we place on reading. We would like each child to read for 20 minutes per day, but you are welcome to do more! Books will be changed on a Tuesday and Friday. The books that are returned are put away for 3 days to ensure we are not passing any opportunity for COVID to be transferred. We have a school-wide reading race this year so get racking up those points!

This term

This term in our Topic work, we are learning about sustainability and the environment. With Hull fast becoming a beacon for renewable and green energy, we wanted to educate the children on some of the small things that they can do at home and in school to help make the planet a better place to live! This will include recycling, the value of water and making animal habitats!  In Science, we will be looking at Materials which will no doubt interest our future builders and other tradespeople!

COVID

If a child has a positive test result they must stay home and self-isolate as per government guidance.

Individuals are not required to self-isolate if they live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, and any of the following apply:

  • they are fully vaccinated
  • they are below the age of 18 years and 6 months
  • they have taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
  • they are not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons

Instead, they will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace, informed they have been in close contact with a positive case and advised to take a PCR test. We would encourage everyone to take a PCR test if advised to do so.

If your child is learning online, the daily work should be completed and sent back on the same day as sending please! If your child has a paper pack, each day's work should be done each, but try to keep your child in a routine and allow time for breaks and fresh air.

If you have any worries or concerns, please contact myself or Miss Naylor on SeeSaw or via Teams.
