We went to a Victorian school for the morning.  It was very different to school nowadays!

Hands on History - Victorian Experience

We had to work in silence as we didn't want to get the cane!

In the afternoon we all had a go at being laundry maids in the Victorian era!

Literacy...

We used dip pens to copy our alphabet.

Writing...

Eight children in the class are left-handed, they were told to write with their right-hand...it was very difficult and uncomfortable!

Science...

The children used chalk boards and slate to write information about coal.

Maths...

We then used an abacus in maths to count...we worked in silence all the way through the lesson!

We all told the Victorian teacher and Miss Plumtree how much we enjoyed working in silence because we got so much work done!

Wash...

We all had a go at using a dolly stick to make sure the soap was getting mixed into the clothes.

Scrub...

We used a wash board to scrub the clothes to try and get the stains out!

Hang...

We made sure we hung our washing on the line so they could dry.

Repeat...

We used the dolly stick to mix the soap into the clothes.
