Welcome to 3W - Miss Watts' Class

Each morning the children have Maths and Literacy.

Within our topic lessons we learn History, Geography, Art and DT.

We also have sessions in Science, ICT, RE, PE and PSHE each week. These are related to our topic when appropriate.

Every Friday we have a music session in which the children have the opportunity to play a number of musical instruments.

For more information on our topics this year, please see the link below.

We have PE on a Thursday afternoon. Please bring your child's PE kit to school on a Monday and leave it in school until Friday. PE kit should include black shorts and white t-shirt for indoor PE and tracksuit bottoms, jumper/jacket and suitable shoes/trainers for outdoor PE. We are monitoring who has the correct clothes for PE.

Your child should have a book bag. We will provide the children with a reading book and home reading record. These books will be changed after the children have completed them on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. When the children have read at home and comments have been made in their home reading record, the children are to place their books in the green tray labelled 'Reading books' in the classroom. We track the amount of times each child reads at home and record their progress on the Reading Race. Please ensure your child brings their book bag to school every day.

We use letter join to support our handwriting development.

Please visit http://www.letterjoin.co.uk/ to log in. Log in details can be found in your child's home school book.

Homework is set every Monday for the children, which is due in the following Monday. Homework will be given in paper form, in order to help children further with their letter/number formation. The children will also receive a spelling worksheet which they should practise at home, ready for a spelling test which will also take place during Monday's spelling session.

We operate a traffic light system to manage behaviour. The aim of the traffic light system is for each child to remain in green all day. Children who display unacceptable behaviour will receive a warning. If the child continues behaving inappropriately, they will be moved to the amber traffic light. If the child then begins making the right decisions, they will be moved back onto green, however if they do not, they will be moved onto the red traffic light. This could lead the child to take a 'time out' or even be removed from the classroom. A child can go straight from green to red if their behaviour is of a serious nature. Children who have stayed on green for the full half term will be rewarded.

Our school focuses on 6 main values: Listening, Respect, Honesty, Friendliness, Caring and Helpfulness. Each week a child is chosen from every class to receive a certificate for displaying our school values. These children will be recognised and celebrated. In class 3W, we also have a Dojo point system and a table point system. The children are awarded dojos when they show the correct behaviour and follow our classroom charter. They receive table points when they demonstrate good examples of teamwork with the other children on their tables. Every Friday, the winning table will receive 10 Dojo points and 2 house points each. The children receive Dojo certificates when they reach certain amounts and are celebrated in class every Friday.

If you have any worries, problems or questions, please do not hesitate to speak to me.

Thank you.

Miss Watts.
