Welcome to 3WS
Miss Wharam and Mrs Standring (Miss Bowers) both teach in 3WS. Miss Wharam teaches on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Mrs Standring teaches on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We hope you have all had a fabulous summer break and you are ready for the new school year. We have a lot of fun things to cover and learn this year. This term we will be looking at sustainability and plants - which will mean a lot of outdoor learning! In reading and writing we will be using the novel James and the Giant Peach written by Roald Dahl.
PE and outdoor learning
P.E. ALL children MUST come to school in their kit (white T-Shirt and black shorts/leggings or joggers.) Children with long hair are expected to have it tied back and NO jewellery to be worn.
PE will be every Tuesday and Wednesday - please make sure your child attends school already in their PE kit both days.
Outdoor learning - please make sure your child has a change of shoes/welly boots in school for any outdoor learning we partake in.
Please remember the value we place on reading and have amended the plans for home reading books. We ask that all children read at least three times a week and that a parent or carer signs the children’s reading diary. We will be collecting golden tokens. Each time your child reads at home, they will receive a point. The class with the most points every week receive a trophy. The class with the most points each half term will be given a book of their choice for their class library. Finally, the class with the most points at the end of the year will be rewarded with a class treat - which I know we will all want to win!
We are using Seesaw more than ever this year, due to the current climate. Seesaw is a great way to communicate between home and school. Homework and spellings will be posted weekly. Reminders are posted when necessary. Your parents can get in touch with us via inbox message if they would like to notify or enquire about something. You all have a log in for Seesaw. Please let us know if you need your details sending again.
You all have a log in for TT Rockstars which is an app (& website) to practise times tables. Please ask if you need a reminder of your log in details. By the end of year 3, you are expected to know your 2, 5, 10, 3, 4, 8 times tables. Just 3 minutes a day will benefit you massively. https://ttrockstars.com/
We use letter join to support our handwriting development.
Please go to http://www.letterjoin.co.uk/ to login. Please ask for log in details.
If your child has to stay home due to parents or themselves displaying symptoms children need to stay home until a negative test result. If a positive test result children must stay home and self isolate for 2 weeks. If a negative result comes through we must see evidence of this at the office so we can allow your child back in the building. I will send work home daily for pupils on teams can this work be completed and sent back on the same day as sending please!
We hope this information is useful to you and your parents. Please let us know if we have missed anything or if you have any questions.
