Welcome to Miss Kirtley's Class
Welcome to Year 5- I hope you had a fantastic summer and are raring to go for the new academic year. Our first topic will be ‘sustainability’ within this we will be discussing and learning about issues such as recycling and pollution.
PE and outdoor learning
P.E. ALL children MUST come to school in their kit (white T-Shirt and black shorts/leggings or joggers.) Children with long hair are expected to have it tied back and NO jewellery to be worn.
PE will be every Tuesday and Friday - please make sure your child attends school already in their PE kit both days.
Outdoor learning - please make sure your child has a change of shoes/welly boots in school for any outdoor learning we partake in.
Please remember the value we place on reading and have amended the plans for home reading books. I ask that all children read at least three times a week and that a parent or carer signs the children’s reading diary. We will be collecting golden tokens each time your child reads at home they will receive a point. The class with the most points every week receive a trophy, the class with the most points each half term will be given a book of their choice for their class library. Finally the class with the most points at the end of the year will be rewarded with a class treat - which I know we will all want to win!
I ask that all parents have seesaw connected for this school year, I use seesaw to pass on important messages, share class updates, I also share photos of the children and showcase their amazing work!
Thank you for your continued support.
The year 5 team.
