Welcome to 6F
Each morning you will have sessions in maths, literacy and guided reading.
Through our topic we learn skills in history, geography, art and DT.
Each week, we also have sessions in science, ICT, RE, Music, PE and PSHE which are related to our topic when appropriate. We have also started learning Latin recently.
For more information on our topics this year, please see the link to the Long Term Plan below.
In Year 6 we will be continuing to use Seesaw for home communications, in the case of another lockdown occurring, we will use the HCAT VLE. Further information about this will be released shortly. If any help is ever needed, bit.ly/mrfowlerclassroom is always up to access prior lockdown work.
Spellings will be given out each week and taught within lessons. They will be given as a batch of 15 and tested on 10, following a set rule.
You all have a log in for Times Tables RockStars which has not changed from Year 5. Please ask if you need a reminder of your log in details. At the moment, I have set it to automatic training which will focus on the times tables you were not fluent in from your last gig session.
We will continue our weekly times tables tests on a Friday. Just like the spellings, it will really benefit you to practise your times tables on TT Rockstars on a daily basis, even if it is just a 3 minute daily garage game!
Due to the current situation, we have limited options regarding sending reading books home. We have books in the classroom for you to read during our daily reading sessions. Please continue to read your own books at home too. You can pop us a message on seesaw to tell us what you have been reading.
We use letter join to support our handwriting development.
Please go to http://www.letterjoin.co.uk/
An on-line resource for teaching cursive handwriting for KS1, KS2 and SEN. Contains animated pre-cursive patterns, letters and words, IWB facility, cursive handwriting worksheet generator and hundreds of ready-made PDF printables.
to login. Please ask for log in details.
PE is on a Friday. Please come to school in your PE kit. This will be outdoors so black jogging bottoms, white t-shirt and a jacket/jumper are required along with trainers. A raincoat will be needed on wet days!
We hope this information is useful to you and your parents. Please let us know if we have missed anything or if you have any questions.
