Welcome to Year 6FG! Mrs Fisher and Mrs Gay
Mrs Fisher teaches on a Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Gay teaches on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We have a session of maths every day. We practise times tables and basic skills every maths lesson alongside different areas of maths. We have a session of literacy every day too. We develop our reading, writing and spelling skills. We also develop our grammar and punctuation skills.
We read in class twice a day. We read our whole class text and discuss the text. Children also read their own reading book every day. We really encourage children to read at home daily. They can earn extra reading points for this!
Most of the foundation subjects are linked to our topic work. Topics are designed to develop independence, thinking and questioning. We also have a session of science each week too. Keep a look out on the website and seesaw to keep up with our current topics.
PE is on a Wednesday and taught by specialist coaches. Please remember to bring the correct kit (see parents information). Children who do not have their kit will miss out on excellent opportunities with the PE coaches. We monitor children who do have their kit/correct kit.
We always encourage positive behaviour and a positive learning environment. To encourage and reward this we use a tables points system in class. We also have a whole school house points system which rewards positive behaviour and efforts. We give out certificates in assembly for school values and merits.
If you need to speak to us about anything please feel free to do so. We are on the playground after school each afternoon.
Thank you for your continued support
Mrs Gay and Mrs Fisher
